Designed by renowned architects Cottee Parker, the towers of West Side Place reach new heights in offering breathtaking views. The striking glass facade is gently angled, adopting a unique folding and terracing nature to create a contemporary and sophisticated texture that weaves throughout the tower exterior. Soft honey tones are also used to highlight its architectural features and accent break areas.
Each tower is comprised of a six-sided floorplate, allowing for maximum solar exposure to residences. Its faceting form enhances the three-dimensional and sculptural nature of the project whilst inviting a visual and physical engagement from multiple viewpoints. West Side Place will be a true icon of the Melbourne CBD landscape.
October 2020 Construction Update
Given the Stage 4 lockdown has been extended in Melbourne, Far East Consortium have granted Probuild, the West Side Place builders an additional 2 weeks to complete your apartment and common facilities to the highest of standards prior to settlement. Throughout the lockdown period both towers have still been progressing at a rapid rate.
Tower A’s structure has been completed up to level 69 and the façade installed on all apartment levels up to the 60th floor. Apartment interiors are progressing well and the design team are extremely happy with the final outcome.
Tower B has topped out at level 63 and the façade is now complete. All three high rise lifts fully operational and the final touches to the apartment kitchens and bathrooms on the top levels remain on track to be completed in November.
September 2020 Construction Update
Over the past month we have seen the first stage of settlements complete at West Side Place and new owners moving in and enjoying their brand-new homes. Final works are being completed on the new cafe in the West Side Place Laneway and they expect to be serving residents and locals by the time restrictions ease. We are confident before long the cultural hub that surrounds West Side Place will again be a hive of activity.
As the current lockdown almost completely shut down the construction industry in Melbourne, Probuild, the West Side Place builders, have been busy rescheduling work and reviewing completion timelines (please see below). The full team are on standby ready to jump back in and resume work once restrictions lift.
SP4: Mid-Late Feb 2021
SP5: Mid-Late May 2021
SP6: Late July 2021
Although construction activity on the Ritz-Carlton at West Side Place has been temporarily put on hold during the current restrictions, construction was already well progressed and key milestones have been achieved with the completion remaining on track for mid-2021, when we expect Melbourne will again be hosting many interstate and hopefully foreign visitors.
The lobby is taking shape with both the façade and freestanding feature staircase being installed prior to the shutdown.
The ballroom lead light windows, ornate ceilings and kitchens are also progressing well.
The floor slabs are up to L69 with the sky rise check-in L.80 slab targeting completion early next year.
